may i ask what you improved in terms of foobar2000?

Carlos

Column UI changes the main foobar2000 window class. CAD will search for the changed window too now.

Hi, great work on the new builds of CAD.

However, this one's (#111) caused some issues with my setup. Most of my skins were no longer displaying text. It took me a while to figure out why some worked and some didn't, but here's the results of my testing. I usually put the text position to the left of the cover and use fairly large font sizes for display on my TV.

With the new build, when text position is placed to the left of the cover and is 18pt. or larger, it will get shifted to the right, but the text will truncate rather than displaying past the padding. When the text position is on top, bottom, or right, the text will shift to the right but will not truncate. The larger the font the further to the right it's shifted.

Also, when max letters is between 54-99, it will also shift to the right with similar results.

Thx Nutzzz. ASAP I'll post a new build.

Nutzzz

Please test this new build.

There is a new setting named "Text area>Width" in "Control Panel>Notifier Text" that may help you with bigger fonts (you can increase the area where the text will be drawn).

Is it possible to have the reflection reflect more than the actual album cover, ie relfect the whole skin? I have the vinyl skin, and the record that peeks out of the cover doesn't reflect, which looks kinda weird.

I have a screenshot if you don't understand what I'm saying.

Thanks,
Ryan

See "Case Mirrored" skin to see what you have to do.

I just installed your software again after liking it on Winamp, but hating Winamp as a media player :(

I am trying to use it with WMP (version 11.0.5705.5043) but unfortunately it doesn't display the album art, just a blank CD case. CAD does close with WMP but doesn't start up with it (as it used to with Winamp) I have to start CAD which automatically loads/starts WMP.

What am I doing wrong?

If I re-install Winamp all works fine again, just not with WMP :(

Also what is the mode for WLM? Is that supposed to change your user picture and PM to whatever your playing? As that does not work either :( (I am using WLM version 8.0.0812.00)

Hope you can help, I have been following this software since first announced on Neowin and would dearly love to be able to use it again :)

Thanks in advance

WMP

1) Install CAD RC5 full setup:
http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/CD_Art_Display/1109367710/1

2) Copy the last build (#116):
http://www.closetosoftware.com/temp/cadrc5b116.zip

3) In the zip file above there's a file named "wmpuice.dll":

1) close both CAD and WMP
2) copy wmpuice.dll into "...\Windows\System32\" folder
3) Go to "Start>Run" and type: regsvr32 wmpuice.dll

4) Now start WMP then CAD (WMP won't start CAD automatically)

5) Make sure that CAD is well configured in order to make it find your local covers ("Control Panel>Read cover")

WML

Set CAD to work with WLM (go to "Control Panel>WLM").

If only the PM is working you need to install the old Messenger that cames with XP. Search this forum for additional help regarding WLM.

Thanks for the quick reply, I have done exactly as you suggested there before I posted with no joy, hence my post :(

Point 5 .. 5) Make sure that CAD is well configured in order to make it find your local covers ("Control Panel>Read cover") There is already some pre-set, I left it at that? Is that whats the problem?

I don't have personal webspace so cannot display screenshots of settings, any further suggestions?

If it helps reading down in the "Read Cover" part it shows ...

Read ID3V2 Tag Cover
%songfolder%folder.jpg
%songfolder%*front.jp*
%coverfolder%%artist%-%album%.jpg
Load any image from Song Folder
%songupfolder%

I have even tried moving the "Load any image from Song Folder" to the top with no joy :(

Thanks yet again for any help :)

removed erroneous img tags as dont have web space

Where are your album covers stored?

In the song folder?

Let me know how you organize your songs.

In addition, CAD does NOT have full unicode support (e.g. Japanese, Chinese etc.).

By the way, I'm using the same WMP11 version.

Did you get a successfull message when you register the dll?

Hi, thanks agai nfor the reply :)

My album covers are stored in the song folder and my songs are organised within a MP3 folder which contains the folder name of the artists and within each artists folder is the albums folder. I hope you understand what I mean.

For example ..

D:\MP3\Alanis Morissette\Jagged Little Pill

The album cover will be stored in that folder as either cover.jpg, front.jpg or the 'album name'.jpg

I get the successful message when registering the DLL

BeLGaRaTh,

It should work!

Try to add this to the "Read cover":

%songfolder%*.jpg

Let it be the first item and remove unecessary items for you (e.g. "Read ID3v2 Tag Cover").

Load "Case" skin and let me know if you're able to see the title, progress bar working...

I have that set now as the only option within "read cover" I still get a blank CD case. There is no title nor progress bar present next to it (to the right as it is when winamp is selected as default)

What is wrong?

I love this little app. but abhor winamp :( yet it only seems to work with that :(

Thanks thus far for your help, I appreciate we are different timezones so cannot always respond immediately to each other.

All help always appreciated :)

All I can say is:

1) Uninstall CAD
2) Unregister and delete the dll
3) Restart you PC
4) Install CAD (but don't start it)
5) Copy the newest build (but don't start it)
6) Copy and register the dll again (follow the Readme.txt instructions)
7) Restart your PC
8) Start WMP
9) Start CAD and go to "Control Panel>Player selector" and make sure "Windows Media Player" is selected

I hope it work for you (Xp 64 has a different folder to install the dll).

Hello. i got a tiny question about CAD's playback buttons. is there any way to set where they are?

Carlos
10-14-2006, 08:59 AM
The following settings control the area size where the playback buttons are:

PlaybackTop=0.5
PlaybackLeft=0.5

With those values the playback area will half of the default one.

Values are from 0.1 to 4. A value 4 can be used to disable playback buttons.

Hi Carlos,

Still no joy, thats basically how I installed in the first place (without the reboot after install/registering the DLL)

Out of curiosity I tried at work and whilst it doesnt allow control of WMP with the Previous/Play/Next options it does work, so there has to be something local to my machine here. I have the exact same settings at work that I do here so why would it not work? FYI I have the same version of WMP11 at home and work.

Thanks again

Have fixed the problem, it seems that I needed to tell WMP11 to allow the DLL.

Here's how I did it ...

Start WMP11
click on Tools --> Plug-Ins --> Options
Choose Background
Tick/Select uICE WMP Plugin
Apply the changes

WMP then uses CAD ... Don't know why you have to do this, but it may help with other people who are having issues?

BTW hadn't mentioned until now (I think) ... Awesome app :)

Hello all, great little piece of software, and I'd like to thank the developer, I use foobar 0.9.4 and CAD RC 5 Build 118 now works good with it, I have one small issue %album% does not return the album, it returns "unknown" also year and genre also display "unknown", are they not supported by cad with foobar? or do the values require special tagging? Artist and Title work perfectly, %album% just returns unknown.....

What filetypes are you trying to play, DIA888? And do these files have the necessary tag information?

DIA888
10-19-2006, 04:13 PM
Mainly FLAC files, works ok with MP3 etc....and they are all tagged right.

Carlos
10-19-2006, 04:42 PM
CAD does not read FLAC tags.

DIA888
10-19-2006, 05:16 PM
thanks, I should note, CAD returns the right values for %title% and %artist% with all my flac files, in foobar. It's better then nothing.

Carlos
10-19-2006, 05:55 PM
DIA888,

You can try to change the foobar2000\Winamp API plugin title to get the album too:

[%artist% - ]$if2(%title%,$filepart(%filename%)) - [%album%]

Note that you will only add " - [%album%]" to the default Winamp title.

DIA888

That actually works, thanks a lot, it does everything I need it to do now, good stuff!

I don't know how WLM API works, or how do you update display picture, but is there a chance that you could select not to have a default DP? Like when you aren't playing any song it disappears your display pic :)

Carlos
10-27-2006, 10:04 PM
I'm not sure if it's possible.

Anyway, you can set your default DP with a blank bmp. I think you'll get the same effect after all.

Carlos, what is the latest build? There have been quite a few bug reports lately, and I haven't been able to follow. Also, there are a few stickied topics, so it's going to be tedious looking for it. Care to link to the latest build and clean up the stickies a bit? :)

Thanks.

Later I'll post the last build: the one I was working on other topics with some small imīprovements, small bugs fixed and partial musikCube support.

Hi, I've done a fresh install of RC5 and unrared build 118 into the program folder.

Works great with Winamp, but all I get is a blank disc when I try WMP 11(.05721)

Downloaded and checked the plugin, nothing. But, if I double click on the case it'll bring WMP 11 to the fore.

Carlos

Xevallah,

If you copied and registered the dll (like said in Readme.txt) then maybe you should follow the BeLGaRaTh solution:

Start WMP11
Click on Tools --> Plug-Ins --> Options
Choose Background
Tick/Select uICE WMP Plugin
Apply the changes
