CAD RC5 Build 176 (08Nov2006)

What's new so far?

- Automatic download bug fixed
- Added "Search cover" hotkey
- Added "Lyrics" hotkey
- Added "Play" hotkey
- Added "Next" hotkey
- Added "Previous" hotkey
- Mirror effect bug fixed
- Added WMP support (see Readme.txt inside the zip)
- Added musikCube support (*)
- Improved qmp (QCD) support
- Improved foobar2000 + Column UI support
- Added mouse wheel volume control for foobar2000 and AlbumPlayer 4.6c
- Double click cover/case to show foobar2000 bug fixed
- Fixed pin to desktop + minimize all (not tested on a dual monitor yet)
- "Text area>Width" in "Control Panel>Notifier Text"
- Support for Winamp .cue files + CUEPlayer plugin (**)
- Improved ID3 cover extraction
- Other small bugs fixed and some general improvements
- MP3Toy mouse wheel volume added

(*) In order to make CAD work:

1) Go to MC "Preferences>Misc>Tunage" then enable the feature and write:

Filename: song.txt
Line to write: $FILENAME | $ARTIST | $TITLE | $ALBUM | $GENRE | $TRACKNUM | $RATING

2) still in MC check "Enable Global Hotkeys"

(**) http://etono.cplusplus.se/cueplay/downloads.xml

Tips collected:

Make CAD act like a notifier:

1) set its window "Always on Top"
2) "Control Panel>Options" and check "Show notifier for" and "Hide case too"

Hide invisible playback buttons:

The following settings control the area size where the playback buttons are:

PlaybackTop=0.5
PlaybackLeft=0.5

With those values the playback area will half of the default one.

Values are from 0.1 to 4. A value 4 can be used to disable playback buttons.

FLAC files with Winamp and even foobar2000:

Change the foobar2000\Winamp title to get the album too:

[%artist% - ]$if2(%title%,$filepart(%filename%)) - [%album%]

Note that you will only add " - [%album%]" to the default Winamp title.

This tip is also usefull for .cue files (**). Don't forget: if cover is not changing go to CAD "Control Panel>Troubleshooting" and check the first two settings and try again!!

WMP is not working:

If you copied and registered the dll (like said in Readme.txt) then maybe you should follow the BeLGaRaTh solution:

1) Start WMP11
2) Click on Tools>Plug-Ins>Options
3) Choose Background
4) Tick/Select uICE WMP Plugin
5) Apply the changes

WLM is not working or just DP is not working:

- Uninstall CAD
- Uninstall Messenger
- Reboot
- Install Messenger (if you have the 4.x you can try it or just install the 5.1 version)
- Reboot again
- Install CAD
- Make some tests

What's your player?
Can you describe how to reproduce the error? I use manual download all the time without any problem.

Hi again Carlos.

I know streaming audio isn't really supported, but I though I would give you some feedback on what's happening in my case.

Config:
* Winamp 5.3

* CAD rc5 b 176

* windows live messenger 8.1.0106 (windows messenger 5.1 previously installed as well)

* Creative Labs Zen Microphoto streaming mp3's through Nullsoft's Creative/PlaysForSure plugins

* Winamp title formatting :
[%artist% - ]$if2(%title%,$filepart(%filename%)) - [%album%]

* CAD notifer formatting:
%title%
%artist%%newline%%album%

Rearding notifier text:

The notifier text appears as follows the first time a song is played:
Artist (sometimes incomplete) - Track name - album
Web radio
Unknown

On replaying the same song, it appears as:
Track name (often incomplete) - album
Web radio
Unknown

Regarding album covers

Cover search will display:
Web radio Artist - Track name - album

Once a cover is applied, it will stay as long as the track is playing. Pausing will revert to the defaut "radio" cover. Replaying will not display the correct cover.
Cover is not saved to the local cover folder.

Hope this helps :)

The streaming audio is something to be improved. Search cover will not work by the way... For now, just don't use it. When I have time I'll try to disable it.

Sorry for being a n00b. :(

You have to install CAD before trying a new build:

I thought that file was an installer. Now it makes sense just replacing the file. Will try this on my Ultimate RTM rig tomorrow.

Great work guys! :D

My specs:
AMD Athlon 1.53GHz w/512MB of RAM
Windows XP Professional
WindowBlinds 5 (added per-application exclusion for CD Art Display)

What's happening:
I load CD Art Display after running either WinAMP or MediaMonkey. (I should mention that the Last.FM and Mog-O-Matic song tracking clients also load when each of these programs loads.) It works fine for the first 2 or 3 tracks, but then a new track starts and the neither the cover nor the track title updates. Suddenly, the track stutters and stops, and the whole system bogs down for about 3-5 minutes trying to process...something. Usually, I'm loading Task Manager to kill CAD after the first minute or so, but I still have to wait it out, because by this point the system tasks are advancing every 20 seconds or so, like a line at the DMV.

Any suggestions?

I also have WB5 and I don't have to exclude CAD.

What CAD build are you using? Did you try the last one?

Do you use embedded cover images? Some of them still may cause CAD to hang.

In addition, you can try uninstall and reinstall the RC6 preview (which was made due Vista):

New build is working great, hadn't updated it in so long!
I finally joined the forums as well!
Thanks and nice to see you still developing it.

I just downloaded the latest build from the thread and haven't had any problems...

Except for the fact that CAD doesn't automatically download cover art. I have it set to download them automatically from amazon.com and nothing. If I do a search manually it'll find the cover and save them and work how it should... but it doesn't automatically download...

am I doing something wrong?

Carlos

The automatic download should work now. It was a bug in RC5.

Anyway:

1. What's your player?
2. Can you try RC6 preview?

Thanks! :)

Hi !
Your software is nothing but incredible.
Here is one suggestion : I'd like to be able to strip words in amazon's query, typically "cd - 1", "best of" ...

And what about adding a "hide when player is stopped" option next to "hide when player is ended" ?

I'm using Winamp 5.32, and I just upgraded to RC6 preview. Still doesn't automatically download artwork. If I do it manually it'll work fine though.

I've tested the feature and it's working.

Please, delete your settings.ini, try the last RC5 build and set CAD to download cover automatically ("Control Panel>Download"):

Please, explain what happens when you play a song without a cover (embedded or in a local folder).

In addition, zip and send me your "settings.ini".

When a song plays that doesn't have a cover, all it does is just display the cover as black... check the image:

http://nemo.urbanspeak.org/cad.jpg

I have it set to create a download log.. and it hasn't created anything, even when I manually download covers (should it?)

here (http://nemo.urbanspeak.org/settings.rar) are my settings

Nice screenshot! :)

I really don't know what's the black image is all about... You should see a "Searching" image if you didn't change the skin set.

Can you try to disable the transition effect? Just go to "Control Panel>Options".

In addition, ASAP I'll make a special build that will create a log so I can see where is the problem.

Thanks.

No matter what skin I am using, a black image appears in the spot of the Cover if it's not in the Album folder, or I previously downloaded it.

If I right click > Cover > Search... the black image changes to the "searching" image, until I either close the search window, or apply a cover to it.

I disabled the transition effect and there's still no change.

One thing I just realized... when I first install CAD, and my firewall (one care) doesn't automatically create an exception to it. However, it never prompts me saying that CAD is trying to access the internet. So once I go to download the cover manually, then the firewall pops up asking if I want to allow it or not. But still, after this it still doesn't download.

I dunno. If there's any more info you need lemme know.

Carlos

Hum... Maybe OneCare is blocking CAD URL request.

Can you disable OneCare firewall or something like that? Can you add a rule to give CAD full internet access or something like it?

I'm testing CAD in 3 PCs right now (one of them with Vista) and everything works fine.

When the firewall is disabled it still does nothing. :(

Nemo, in options in "read cover" whats your cover folder? did you pick one? and then in option "download" what is your "save downloaded covers using the following pattern"? mine for example is "%coverfolder%%artist% - %album%.jpg"
