View Full Version : Track number format

First off - great piece of software!

I have about 80GB of music and use Media Monkey.

When playing most songs the track number is shown alone. Whatever the ID3 tag says it is i.e. 06. That being track 6 on the album.

However with some of my albums (and this doesn't always apply to all the track of the album) the format is 06/15. This meaning that it is track 6 of 15 as I've worked out that the second number is the number of tracks on the album.

I find it very annoying that track numbering is not being displayed consistently. Could someone please explain why and how I choose one format over the other?

Many Thanks.

CAD just reads your mp3 tag and displays what it finds there.

Hi,

Follow-on from the previous thread on this.

I'm using XP SP2, CD AD 1.0 Build 1, foobar2000 v0.9.4.5 for OGG tracks.

Ripped a multi-disc album, mp3tag/foobar appear to show correct tags, but one album shows "0." for first disc tracks 1/11... 11/11. Second disc tracks 1/10 .... 10/10 appear (correctly?) as "1." ... "10."

Didn't want to post too much, please let me know what,if any, additional information to post.

Thanks,
PeteK

CAD 2.0 has a new, improved and 100% featured integration with foobar2000 thanks to eyebex component.

CAD 2.0 beta 1 is available for Premium Users but beta 2 will be available for all users.

The track number is just part of the ID3 tag. And all CAD does is read that information. So it seems like some of your tracks have 6 in them, some have 06, and some have 06/15. I have a very large database of mp3's myself and run into the same problem. I am attempting to write all the ID3 tags the same (with the 06/15 format), however with so many mp3's, it takes some time.

So, if you want CAD to display the same format every time, you will have to edit your mp3's yourself. MediaMonkey, Winamp, and my fav Mp3tag will all mass write your tags for you.

Hi Carlos,

Thanks for the reply, will test CAD 2.0 beta and report back.

Hi Xious,

Thanks for the reply, but the ID3 tags check out fine via MP3TAG and foobar2000, so you may come across this problem after changing your tracknumber (this is using OGG, so MP3 may not be affected)
The ID3 TRACKNUMBER tag read by CAD 1.0 is not returned exactly as it exists...
In my case, Disc 1 has TRACKNUMBER 1/11, 2/11....11/11 and CD 1.0 shows "0. trackname" for all tracks.
Disc 2 has TRACKNUMBER 1/10, 2/10....10/10 and CD 1.0 show "1. trackname" not "1/10. trackname".

Hope this clarifies the issue I'm experiencing.

Thanks,
PeteJ

CAD 1.0 uses a third party OGG module and it's limited and dated.

CAD 2.0 + new component will get the information directly from foobar2000. It should work better with any file type.
