Greetings,
I’m using Winamp 5.21 with latest rc4 build 132.
All my mp3 tags are Unicode so I can see the Russian font OK.
Winamp and other apps see all tag info OK Album, Artist, Folder, File name
in nice Russian.
ВИА Гра - Бриллианты
File names are also Unicode Russian.
When the CD Art Search dialog starts it populates the search string with:
@0 @8;;80=BK
This is of course not Russian so the search fails...
Press Go and it returns
Error. Try Later.
Next, I type in ВИА Гра - Бриллианты
into the search dialog box...
Cover not found. Search again using less words.
Next I use Latin version of artist name:
Via Gra
Search is successful.
Next I click on album cover and drag to CD Art and drop it.
CD Art Display asks
Apply selected Cover?
I select Y
Response:
Error Copying File or Folder
Cannot copy cover: The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.
Next, I scan in image of CD case
place file ВИА Гра - Бриллианты.jpg
in C:\Program Files\CD Art Display\Covers\ВИА Гра - Бриллианты.jpg
drag file to CD Art...
Error Copying File or Folder
Cannot copy ВИА Гра - Бриллианты.jpg: The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.
Looks like Unicode support issue. All other American CD's perfect!
Thx

In fact CAD does not have Unicode support.

CAD is written in Visual Basic 6 and it has several limitations.

Anyway, as soon as I find a solution for that I'll fix it for sure.

Thank you for your feedback.

Thanks for the fast feed back.
I found a workaround by
place file ВИА Гра - Бриллианты.jpg
in G:\My Music\ВИА Гра\Биллианты\ВИА Гра - Бриллианты.jpg
which is where the music is...
and then adding Any Image to the Read Cover Option.
Interesting, If I put the ВИА Гра - Бриллианты.jpg in the
C:\Program Files\CD Art Display\Covers path is does not work...

So, I have a work around, otherwise very nice work!
THX

Things are working ok for me now in french but as a advice, better think of something fast, I remember posting feedback on early versions of winamp about unicode and it's still not 100% fixed in v5 :)

It gets harder to fix those things afterwards...
