CD Slot Display

hi there!

as a regular user of the Yahoo!Widget Engine (http://widgets.yahoo.com/) (also known as Konfabulator), i'm always checking the Widget Gallery (http://widgets.yahoo.com/gallery/) and deviantART (http://browse.deviantart.com/customization/modules/konfabulator/?view=1&limit=24&alltime=yes&order=5) for new and crispy Widgets.
so, some time ago i tripped over a very well coded and extraordinary nice looking Widget called "CD Slot iTunes Display".

although i have installed iTunes, my favourite player has always been winamp.
that's why CD Slot iTunes Display (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/49585635/) never really got my full attention. :(

i think it's about time to change that. :)

so, i designed a completely new interfacelike case for the CD Slot iTunes Display (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/49585635/) which hopefully matches flawlessly.

as soon as an early staged screenshot was ready i made contact to the author of CD Slot iTunes Display (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/49585635/) to ask permission to use his fantastic artwork and to create a CAD skin.

the author of CD Slot iTunes Display (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/49585635/) is called D-O-M-I-N-I-C.

D-O-M-I-N-I-C (http://d-o-m-i-n-i-c.deviantart.com/) not only gave me his permission in his quick reply, but also he has sent me his original psd files and already gave a very nice encouraging feedback.

- attached to the zip you'll find some font files. please close CAD and install the fonts before you apply "CD Slot Display" !!!

well, there is no wallpaper, yet.
i just created it for the screenshot using D-O-M-I-N-I-C's graphics as a template.
but perhaps i can give it a try. :)
if you just let me know your screen resolution and i see what i can do.
...and would you like the stripes to be big, medium or small?

to have the psd files was very nice, indeed.
you see the original widget ships with 8 or 10 different cd types and 3 various slots as well.
you should definitely try the widget sometime. :)
one of those cd's is designed in this special black-and-yellow-under-construction-look which basicly was the reason for creating the lookalike nocover images and the preview background. ;)

another reason to take such nocover images is to pay some tribute to D-O-M-I-N-I-C who uses this style for his avatar in deviantART. :)

in resume i'm very glad that all fits together that well and that you all like it as much as i do.

the XL version has the same stripe size like in my screeny and M is having half their size.

well...
...fortunately i created the skin in original widget size in the first place.
i then scaled everything down to have a 50% sized skin.
if you check out the initial post, you'll find the "CD Slot Display XL" which of course might be a little too big for your needs right now, but i think zooming out all the elements definitely looks better than a blurry blowup.
the tricky thing will be to configure the textlines accordingly, but i think you can handle this. :wink:
just tell me if you need some help. :)

at least not in the near future.
