Hiya,

CD Art Display is by far my favorite album art plugin for Winamp. I could go on and on about the parts I like, so will keep things to discussing the areas that seem to have problems or shortcomings, in hopes of finding out if they'll be addressed or expanded in future.

1. The "Normal" setting for the window has a bug. If you've got a program window open, and are working, and your mouse strays off the edge where CAD is mostly covered, it will automatically jump to the fore, blocking your work. Even if you didn't click on it, a simple non-contact mouseover causes this to happen. Pinning the window to the desktop doesn't help, because then you can't get the CAD window to come forward even with a click.

2. Amazon searches don't work for items that have various artists. Would suggest having CAD ignore that phrase when doing auto-searches. Might help increase the success rate and avoid a lot of manual searches. Would also suggest that when you've got it set to find and display the cover automatically, you let it choose the larger image, not just the first one it finds. I was playing around with this last night, and saw that it would often grab a thumbnail image if set to auto-find, and ignore the higher-rez image the thumb linked to (whereas if I do the manual search, the better image is usually displayed in the results for me to choose).

3. The artist/title text displayed outside the window sometimes runs off the screen. Would suggest enabling word-wrap for it.

4. Possible memory leaks. Don't know if this is something only I'm experiencing on my system, or if it's the program, but when CAD is running I seem to be getting a massive drain on system resources, slowing everything down to a crawl. Doesn't happen immediately, but once it's been running awhile, it begins to show, and gets pretty bad over time.

5. Auto-search rollover to other sources. It'd be very handy if a failed search automatically began looking at other sources in the list, instead of simply stopping. Just an idea. :)

6. And finally, a request. If at all possible, I'd like to request that the media player from www.MakeitOne.com be added to the compatibility list. The new v2 player (not listed, but downloads anyway when you click the v1 download link) now displays tracks within "wrapped" compilations, a real breakthough for fans of "Album" files. If we could use CAD with it to display cover art, that would be just awesome.

Thanks!

1. In fact, this is a feature. :)

2. In fact, CAD tries to get the best image but it depends on how Amazon sends the result too.

3. Word wrap is possible but it will require more time to code; maybe after 1.0 final; however, you can set the maximum letters CAD should display ("Control Panel>Skin Manager>Notifier text").

4. Sometimes I run CAD for more than a day but I don't make searches all the time and I don't have any system resources issues; I'm testing CAD in 3 different PCs; anyway, try to find what can make CAD use more resources than necessary (e.g. some ID3v2 cover or picture tag may trigger unwanted CAD system resources usage).

5. It's possible too but it'll require more time to do it; maybe after 1.0 final.

6. A new player is welcome; I was not able to find a SDK for it; anyway I need, at least, a way to get the current song path and a Visual Basic 6 module for that will make things easier! ;)

Thank you for your feedback!
