Since Monday I'm a lucky owner of an iPod nano 4G.
I'm really happy with it. But I can't import videos to my library.
At .avi the video just isn't imported. When I want to import .mov and .mp4 iTunes crashes.
I hope, someone can help me.

What OS are you using?

Do you run the latest version of iTunes 8?

It's not possible to watch AVI's or MPG's on your iPod. You need to convert them first.

For Windows, I suggest Videora iPod Converter: http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/

How exactly do you import your videos? Simply drag and drop them to your library or do you use the menu?

I'm using Windows XP Professional with SP3.
My iTunes is the latest version 8, because the iPod nano 4G isn't working with older versions.
That only some formats are working on my iPod isn't new to me. But I always tried to import .avi to my library.
I tried drag and drop AND through the menu. But both methods doesn't work here. Results as I already said.

In any case, thank you for your reply. =)

That's really strange...

Did you upgrade from iTunes 7 to iTunes 8 or did you a clean install?

The video-files themselves aren't broken or anything like that, I guess, right?

You should try to take a look at XP's event log. Maybe there are some information in it why iTunes is exactly crashing.

Have you tried to watch the files with QuickTime? It could also be a codec-problem...

I did a clean-install.
The files aren't broken. I'm watching most of them some times in WMP11.
But now that you asked me, my QuickTime Player isn't starting.
I Installed it together with iTunes 8.

Maybe that's the problem. Please download the most recent QuickTime build from this page: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

Before you install it, please uninstall iTunes again, then uninstall QuickTime (if you uninstall iTunes, QuickTime is still installed), then install iTunes again and after that, install QuickTime.

I hope this solves your problem.

You can also try to use a Reg-Cleaner before installing iTunes and QuickTime again.
