fullscreen 2nd monitor - Backgrounds

hello,

new to the forum..

I managed to figure out to move the cover/case and track info onto the 2nd monitor via the editor and positioning.

however.. the fine background included in the skin now remains on the primary monitor.. I cannot seem to find any setting that alters the positioning of the background in fullscreen.

the skin in question is ThaWall DLX

Go to CAD Options>Full screen skin then try "Custom full screen position".

well, there's actually no need to move any of a fullscreen skin's items to a 2nd monitor individually. instead there's a setting in CD Art Display's options, in which you can move an entire fullscreen skin to a position of your liking.



just type in the amount of pixels you'd like a fullscreen skin to be moved in either of the two boxes (left one is for horizontal padding / right one for vertical) and you're good to go.

please note that for moving the fullscreen skin towards the right you'll need to insert a positive value (i.e. 1280 or 1920), whereas moving the skin towards the left requires a negative value (in that case -1280 or -1920).

since you've already altered the original skin setting in the Skin Editor, moving the fullscreen skin to the right (or left for that matter) would also mean that the elements you've already moved would also be moved even further and presumably outside of your 2nd screen's workspace.

that's why i'd recommend re-dowloading the original ThaWall skin, so that everything is set back to its default configuration.

I must have an old edition then, fullscreen doesnt show in my options under lyrics... will check up on that first

ah wait.. sorry.. thats exactly what i have tried.. and everything but the background image moves as per the custom pixel positioining... so im stuck with the background image on monitor one and the rest of CDA on monitor 2

hmm.. i'm afraid i don't know what's wrong then.

on a few rare occasions i've heard that there are some issues in case your 2nd display is placed to the left of your main monitor, which requires negative pad values with a leading "-" (minus) then. but then again, i have no idea why this setup appears to be more buggy than the one with the 2nd display on the right.

so sorry that i'm not able to provide you with a fix to resolve the issue.

could this be because it is an image.. a fullsized picture used as background? the case and song ticker moves with the values.. dunno if you know thawall skin.

yeah, sure i know the ThaWall skin, because i have created it.

well, all i can tell you is that if you haven't tinkered with the skin and leave it in its default config (like when freshly dowloaded and installed), then moving the entire skin (not individual items of the skin) to a 2nd display should work just fine.

i've already described in my screenshot that moving a fullscreen skin can be done in CAD's options and not in the settings for the skin itself.

each skin item (i.e. textlines, ratings, toolbar buttons etc.) have their fixed position on that background.jpg and those i've configured in the SkinEditor, so they'd get their relative positions on that background. that means that moving them around would only alter said items' positions, rather than the overall skin's position.

so, once again my recommendation would be to download the skin again, install it and leave it fully untouched. then go to CAD's options (accessible via rightclick menu) and then navigate to the "Full screen skin" settings where you now should be able to move the fullscreen skin to your desired 2nd display.

by the way, this setting affects all fullscreen skins. so maybe you can also try using a different fullscreen skin than ThaWall and then see if the issue persits. it works here and it should work on your computer just as well.


edit// .. uhm, silly question, but you do have chosen the right ThaWall skin version for your screen res (i.e. 1280, 1440, 1600 ... 1920), have you?

I will try and tinker abit and see if i can make it work.. i dont have the same options layout though eventho i have the latest version from the site..

will get back when i have done some more testing

well it works now.. i didnt do anything .. maybe a reboot was all it took..
