hi there!

one of my first topics here in the forum was a request for some kind of a distortion feature to add some perspective impression to a skin.
http://www.cdartdisplay.com/forum/index.php?topic=264.0

...i kept on wanting this feature eversince.

then recently Carlos came up with a port of an aveTunes skin:
http://cdartdisplay.com/forum/index.php?topic=334

of course this is not exactly what i was looking for, but i thought that maybe i should give it a try and create a similar skin with different shadow setting.

the result is called "ThaFrame"

go to download location

NOTE:
- attached to the zip you'll find some font files. please close CAD and install the fonts before you apply "ThaFrame" !!!

(update 29Jul2007)
- both ThaFrame and ThaFrame 180° in one skin now.

i hope you like "ThaFrame" !!

suggestions, comments, screenshots or any other feedback will be much appreciated.

thx!

....OtisBee

@ Carlos:

you might have noticed that the skin takes use of that square9 effect you've sent me a while ago. thanks again!!
btw, would you post a screeny of "ThaFrame" alongside this crowded house cover you once talked about?

I'm glad the effect was useful but I didn't notice that you used it!

@ OtisBee: Here's the screenshot, I promised you:

As you can see, I made some slightly modifications on the text-elements

Btw: The angle of the cover doesn't fit perfectly to the frame. Maybe you can have a look at it.

@ Carlos:

that cover DOES look amazing in "ThaFrame"!
8) 8)
thanks for posting such pretty screenshot!!

that goes for you, too swe & Operator!

let's talk about your suggestions, issues, requests or whatever you'd like to call it.

you see, CAD isn't able to draw a cover the way it's seen in "ThaFrame". the case is used as an overlay for the cover here to trick your eyes and give that perspective impression.
right underneath the case there's a usual rectangle shaped cover. all i did was to make it less wide to support the faky perspective view.

so, Operator,
...if i got you right you are not quite satisfied with the impression when you mention an incorrect angle.
as i said, it's a limitation in CAD to distort the cover.
rotating the image wouldn't help, because it would only fit the case's parallel on one edge.
as long as CAD isn't able to distort a cover, there's nothing i can do about your complaint.
sorry.
perhaps you can consider "ThaFrame" as a cheap compromise.

...and swe:
...as i mentioned above, there's a usual rectangle shaped cover underneath the case.
now, designing the case to be partialy transparent to have "ThaGlassyFrame", wouldn't work, because it would reveal the hidden cover edges.
you wouldn't want that.
nevertheless i like your idea very much and it certainly would look just great.

okay guys, thanks again for your beautiful screenshots and your great feedback!!
