CD Slot Display

hi there!

as a regular user of the Yahoo!Widget Engine (also known as Konfabulator), i'm always checking the Widget Gallery and deviantART for new and crispy Widgets.
so, some time ago i tripped over a very well coded and extraordinary nice looking Widget called "CD Slot iTunes Display".

although i have installed iTunes, my favourite player has always been winamp.
that's why CD Slot iTunes Display never really got my full attention.

i think it's about time to change that.

so, i designed a completely new interfacelike case for the CD Slot iTunes Display which hopefully matches flawlessly.

as soon as an early staged screenshot was ready i made contact to the author of CD Slot iTunes Display to ask permission to use his fantastic artwork and to create a CAD skin.

the author of CD Slot iTunes Display is called D-O-M-I-N-I-C.

D-O-M-I-N-I-C not only gave me his permission in his quick reply, but also he has sent me his original psd files and already gave a very nice encouraging feedback.

• - attached to the zip you'll find some font files. please close CAD and install the fonts before you apply "CD Slot Display" !!!
• - to trigger the CD (Panel) click on the tiny eject button next to the timedisplay!

without your recent effort in implementing a oneway-textscroll-feature and the independent volume and toolbar handling, the skin wouldn't have come that close to the original Widget.

This is a really well done port with a nice OtisBee touch here and there.

D-O-M-I-N-I-C was really kind to even share his PSD file which is rare.

well, there is no wallpaper, yet.
i just created it for the screenshot using D-O-M-I-N-I-C's graphics as a template.
but perhaps i can give it a try.
if you just let me know your screen resolution and i see what i can do.
...and would you like the stripes to be big, medium or small?

to have the psd files was very nice, indeed.
you see the original widget ships with 8 or 10 different cd types and 3 various slots as well.
you should definitely try the widget sometime.
one of those cd's is designed in this special black-and-yellow-under-construction-look which basicly was the reason for creating the lookalike nocover images and the preview background.

another reason to take such nocover images is to pay some tribute to D-O-M-I-N-I-C who uses this style for his avatar in deviantART.

in resume i'm very glad that all fits together that well and that you all like it as much as i do.

the XL version has the same stripe size like in my screeny and M is having half their size.
