Hi,

I've already done my first skin, I hope you like it. I wanted to do a simple and minimal skin.

Its name was for Glass+Frame. I've done two versions: Glame and GlameB (B from Big; the "old" version), both flipped to both sides (180º in other skins - Really, this isn't 180º), and first ("little" Glame) with another Style, "Glow".

Please, browse glass effect from video, search and no-cover.

Tell me if you find it some problem.

Greets.

Ohm, yeah, sorry.

I fix it, but I didn't take another preview.
When I've more time, I change preview. Thanks.

Updated
I've renamed old Glame version for GlameB, and add another Glame version.

well, it depends.
originally i invented the term 180° under the following circumstances:

first there was an early version of "Celluloid".
then i was asked by Operator if i could do a version of it, so he would be able to place "Celluloid" to the far right of his screen.

in order to fill this request i found out that it wouldn't be enough to only move the text and ratings to the other side of the main case. rotating the skin counter-clockwise by some according degrees wouldn't have worked either, because the backeffect.png wouldn't have been affected by this rotation. the result would have looked very odd.
so i opened my image editor and vertically mirrored the case- and backeffect.png's.
in a way you can say i have turned around these graphics by 180° based on a certain axxis.

over the months the term 180° became very popular and others also called their 'flipped' skin styles 180°.

of course you can call your styles whatever you like. there's no rule.
flipped is just perfect.

now, speaking about your Glame skin in general...
...i have to admit that i pretty much love your skin!
cool artwork that has been configured nicely.
(using the Glame default right now)

i know you've originally created this for CAD1.0, but there might be some things you might want to consider for making Glame ready for CAD2.0...

...once applied in CAD2.0 your skin does no longer provide any author, contact or comments. well most of a skin's elements are converted properly once started in CAD2.0, but unfortunately this doesn't apply to the author details.
i've recognized that you became a premium member recently and therfore are also able to use CAD2.0beta now, so you might want to check and update the mentioned author details.

also there's a major change regarding the toolbar when you use CAD2.0...
...although still displayed and accessable the 'old' toolbar.png's sooner or later will no longer be supported.
in fact CAD2.0 already supports only the basic toolbar.png. but it no longer supports toolbar1.png, toolbar2.png, toolbar3.png and so on. these images were used to achieve the different button states on mouseover.
in the near future CAD2.0 will only support the socalled 'custom toolbar'.

here's a quote from Carlos' "How to make a skin" tutorial:
Quote:
Custom toolbar: this is the flexible way to make a toolbar; you can use any and different sizes for each supported button; to set the toolbar size and buttons position go to “Skin Editor>Toolbar/Volume” and click “Custom toolbar” link.
Supported buttons:
play.png = normal state
play1.png = mouse over state
play2.png = mouse press state
prev.png = normal state
prev1.png = mouse over state
prev2.png = mouse press state
next.png = normal state
next1.png = mouse over state
next2.png = mouse press state
repeat.png = off state
repeat1.png = on state
repeat2.png = mouse over off state
repeat3.png = mouse over on state
shuffle.png = off state
shuffle1.png = on state
shuffle2.png = mouse over off state
shuffle3.png = mouse over on state
pause.png = normal state
pause1.png = mouse over state
pause2.png = mouse press state
menu.png = normal state
menu1.png = mouse over state
menu2.png = mouse press state
player.png = normal state
player1.png = mouse over state
player2.png = mouse press state

Note that if a skin has pause button then it’ll be used when a song is playing and “play.png” when a song is paused/stopped. It’s an iTunes, WMP11 and AlbumPlayer alike play/pause button functionality.

How to configure a custom toolbar? It’s easy. Just open your image editor. Create a new image with the toolbar size that you need. Now place the buttons where you want to. With the select tool you can find the left and top of a button position. Write those values (in pixels) in “Skin Editor>Toolbar/Volume>Custom toolbar”. Now CAD will use the area that you set and it’ll draw the buttons in the configured positions.
as it's been said already the custom toolbar is a very flexible way to create very unique toolbar appearances, while keeping the ability to do even simple and yet cool ones. think about it.

btw...
...i just love your preview images in skin editor.
well done.

but there's one thing i really don't like very much.
it's (c)rapidshare and their timeout philosophy.
perhaps you can chose a different filehoster (i.e. zShare).

...and one more tiny little thing...
...sooner or later i'm going to submit your skin to the cdartdisplay.com skin gallery.
in order to keep things simple i suggest that you merge your two skin's (Glame & GlameB) so there would be only one single skin folder. otherwise i would have to chose which one to take.

if you need any help regarding any of the suggestions above, just ask via PM, email or here in the forum.

thx again!

....OtisBee

Wow!
First, about 180º: I didn't know this story, sorry if I ofended you with my "showy" hehe.

I'm glad you like my skin

About CAD 2.0: I tried a bit. I saw that this version open infinite possibilities to make skins, and make me crazy. When I've more time, I'll try to do my Glame for 2.0; not converting from 1.0. Thanks for your explanations, I'll keep it in my mind.

About Rapidshare... yes, it sucks. I didn't know others filehosters, I usually use RS to upload little files (so you can't to wait much time). I try to change filehoster soon, sorry for the inconveniences.

Sincerely, I don't like very much GlameB. It was my first skin and I was trying Skin Editor possibilities. It has a perspective mistake, and I want to do a mirror effect, but I could not. I prefer Glame; and, when I'll try to convert it to 2.0, I'll try to do it again.

Thanks for your feedback

;D

i know what you mean.

...but even if CAD2.0 adds a few features, there's no need to support them in a skin.
all features are optional.

...regarding a skin conversion once applied in CAD2.0...
it's not a big deal and doesn't affect any setting in your skin at all. all positions, sizes and appearances of any element (toolbar, ratings, cover, progressbar and so on) would stay just the same and there's no need to reproduce any graphics.
what's actually happening during the conversion process is that the skin.ini will be rewritten (different formatting).

the only two things affected by the conversions are:

1- skin author details might get lost (depending on the CAD version the skin was created with)
2- toolbar.png (appart from toolbar1.png and so on) is the only toolbargraphic that is supported when the skin is using the socalled 'old' toolbar.

CAD2.0 is providing a whole bunch of advantages and improvements not only relating to the process of skincreation.

it fixes quite a few bugs and makes things a lot easier in many ways.
for example the realtime preview when moving around skin elements (no more guessing).

besides it has been a main goal to make it as easy as possible to upgrade from a lower CAD version to CAD2.0. (as always it's nothing more than overwriting the existing CAD.exe by the one you'll find in a downloaded CAD2.0beta).

anyway...
...since this is a skin release board, i want to repeat once again that i really really love your Glame (default)! i use it all the time and it fits perfectly on my currently used wallpaper.
i even think about creating more oldschool (so to say) skins myself.
simple but yet amazing.
