you don't actually.
that's the job of Carlos and/or me.

although i can't tell you exactly when that would happen it has shown to be quite useful in the past to wait a certain time after a skin has been released in the forum.
mainly because there are often some changes and/or minor tweaks to be expected in a newly released skin (i.e. a missing font, a cutoff dropshadow ;D , complications in the configurational structure, a reported copyright violation and so on).
that's why the forum is a good opportunity to collect some other members' experiences with the according skin and after a while -when no further changes would be expected for the skin and the activity in a release topic would somewhat come to an end- it would finally be submitted to our gallery by either me or Carlos.
this way we won't have to update a skin in the gallery over and over again each time it would be changed in its forum release topic.

so, in resume it's just a matter of time and patience before a skin would finally be submitted to our skin gallery.

see, that's what i mean.
it's good to wait before getting active. ;D

i'm looking forward to those additional substyles.

thx for your patience!!

p.s.: of course it would still be possible to update a skin at any time after it's been uploaded to our gallery.
it's just that we found out that the longer we wait the less updates would be expected.
saves us some time and effort, you know.

Since we're on the subject, I would like to say that now that I've got a bit of time, I plan on updating all of my skins on Deviantart. I'll fix problems that I've found, take some of the peoples suggestions and put em in, add more sub-styles etc. Expect that pretty soon.

Thanks for the reply, and no problem. Its a good idea. Im a compulsive updater anyway, because I play with skins when I have free time and just add/update as I go along. Should I let you know here when I think Im done?

Updates:

1. New control buttons which look a bit sharper.
2. New version added with control buttons in the cover art area. Thanks to SebastianScissorKick for the idea.

Download and preview updated in first post.

------------------

Does anybody got suggestions on how I can add a volume control without messing up the simplicity/cleanliness? ^^ I dont need one since I use KB controls, but there's a couple of people who suggested it on DA :P

I also have a question about the control buttons. There are times when I start CAD, and if the mouse happens to be over the player when its loading, then the control buttons dont load properly with the skin. They load with a extra high transparency and slight flickering. Is it happening only to me? Any idea what causes this and how to fix it?

Thanks

Maybe move the progress bar up a bit and make one underneath it. I've never tried this, but I don't think it would work, but put a vertical one on the right of the time and progressbar. Is there an option for a vertical volume bar?

yes there is.
just make your graphics less wide than high and CAD will interpret that as a vertical volumebar.
(works with progressbar and ratings as well )

btw. there's even a third option to create a volume control.
instead of a bar and slider (resp. knob) you can make and use "+" (up) and "-" (down) controls as well.
perhaps this volume control style would suit better here, because it probably would take less space.

the according graphics would be:

backud.png = idle state volume controls
mouseover.png = selfexplaining i guess ;D
voldown.png = to be shown when the left part of the backud.png is clicked
and
volup.png = to be shown when the right part of the backud.png is clicked

just like the regular volumebar graphics these files would be placed in the "Volume" folder as well.
check Brushed View Reloaded (link) and ThaWall (link) for reference.

that's an issue in CAD that shows up througout all skins with a rounded cover. (depending on the rounded corner value strength tho)
8 months or so ago the corners looked better, but Carlos told me that the current engine can't do any better than the previous one.

Thanks again for the suggestions and feedback guys. I think Im going to go with the "+" and "-" controls for volume. Those skins of yours look real snazzy Otis, but they dont work for me. Dont know what/if Im doing something wrong when trying to use them :P

Btw, does anyone know why Im having that issue with the control buttons, when loading CAD?
